You will learn to apply Occupational Health and safety regulations. You will be able to identify and describe personal protective equipment, fall equipment, working environment hazards and industrial health hazards.
Worksite
On the worksite, you will have the opportunity to specialize on two pieces of equipment.
Equipment
You will become familiar with the functions and purposes of the controls. Components and attachments available for the machines
Maintenance
You will become familiar with demonstrating start up and shut down, safety and preventative maintenance procedures.
Projects
You will become familiar with performing actual work projects, under supervision, on two heavy equipment machines
Heavy Equipment Safety
You will learn proper safety procedures on the site such as required personal protective equipment, hand signals and safe use and storage of fluids. Perform routine safety inspections and maintenance checks such as checking fluid levels, brakes, tires and tracks.
Ground Disturbance
This course teaches the primary pitfalls which result in illegal and dangerous strikes. You will be trained in accordance with regulations of the pipeline Act and regulations with cross reference to other legal legislation as applicable.
Fall Protection
This course covers legislation, safety measures and best practices. It includes the selection and safe use of fall prevention, work positioning and fall arrest systems. It additionally includes fall hazard identification, fall protection planning and discussion on fall effects and fall rescue.
